A couple of Sundays ago (I do believe it was the industrious and cheerful Sunday - see below), Samara went down for her nap with a little clip in her hair. You know - a clip like one of these, but smaller. And pink.
When she woke up from her nap, the clip was no longer in her hair. And it was nowhere to be found in or around her crib. We pulled her room apart. No clip!
We concluded that she must have swallowed it. I was inspired to blog about this after reading Meika's Billy Goat Gruff post. Chloe seems to be even more of an omnivore than Samara. And Meika and Mike seem to be a touch less paranoid than Samara's parents... as I notice that they have not yet taken Chloe into the hospital for an x-ray. :0/
According to the x-ray that was taken the day after the possible clip-snack-nap, the clip was not lodged anywhere in her esophagus or her stomach... Nor did we find it during any of our elimination-inspections. We have ceased to worry about the little clip.
The perils of trying to keep Samara from being called a boy!

Sammie had the same thing happen and I found it several weeks later wedged between the matress and the crib slats.

People keep caling Chloe a boy, too - even when she's wearing pink! Driving me mad... I had actually been about to go out and see if I could find some cute little barrettes for her like the very ones we see here when I heard your story. Right. Barrette + goat-child = no good news. Maybe next year. ;)
As to the paranoia - it may have something to do with really not being accustomed to access health care in our native tongue. It sometimes still surprises me that I don't have to figure out how to say something simple far ahead of time... and I'm sure that neither "goat-child" nor "barrette" were in my Japanese lexicon!
