I have been tagged twice in the last while... Long ago by Meika in a Thanksgiving meme... so that one first... Two things I am thankful for:
1. A surface thing: Christmas lights. With a toddly toddler we almost didn't put up our tree this year, but I am so glad we did. I had been looking with longing in other peoples' windows and so Tim conceded and we put it up on the one night this week that he didn't have an evening church meeting or event. I don't know what it is about lights... I guess they make me think of being warm when it's cold or they make me remember my little brother trying to blow them out... and blue Christmas lights make me think of blue butter cream frosting. I like light in darkness - the reality and the metaphor... which is usually still a reality.
2. A deep below the surface thing: Bee Bo. For those of you who have Sandra Boynton's Belly Button book, you'll know that's the tiny hippo way of saying, "Belly Button." And for those of you who read Samara's Care Page, you'll know that Bee Bo is also the name we've given our second child... due to be born in June. I am so thankful for this little one. Waiting waiting waiting...
And speaking of advent - - - the advent song meme Erica just tagged me in. Five favorite advent songs...
1. Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming - singing it with Tim, Mom, and Stephanie...
2. O Come, O Come Immanuel - Samara's favorite song last year... we sang it to her through many scary times - in her fear - in our fear
3. For You, O Lord, My Soul in Stillness Waits - sang it this morning in Matins at CTS
4. Christus Paradox - from a funeral nearly 7 years ago
5. Silent Night - sung with Layton - 7 years ago tonight - standing in our kitchen - the night before the accident silenced his earthly voice - until the new earth.
The Thanksgiving meme is kind of overdue... so I'll just tag one person in this Advent Song Meme: Betsy

Thanks for the songs... I was just thinking about the already-not-yet, contrasts between joy and mourning for you in advent, and thinking how wonderful it is to add Bee Bo's coming out party to this time of year for you.
December I'd remembered, the date of the accident I had not (of course, since I AM losing my mind, I suppose that's not surprising). Mmm. So strange to think of that alternate reality.
