Hugging

Tim left for Alpha last night while I was feeding Samara her supper. Before he left, I stood up and gave him a hug - a longish hug with a couple of kisses... and then we turned and looked at Samara. Her head was swiveled around so she could see us from her high chair. And she was looking at us. Absolutely fascinated. Smiling a bit - but mainly, just intrigued. Many things ran through my head:

1. Tim and I don't hug each other as much as we used to.
2. When we do hug, it's usually not in front of Samara - because Samara is usually in the arms of one as the other is leaving.
3. There's lots of affection in our house - but most of it is directed at Samara.
4. It's good for Samara to see (appropriate) affection between her mommy and daddy.
5. I like hugging my husband.

Samara should have no doubt in her mind that we love her loads and loads. That little half-smile on Samara's face as Tim and I gave each other a big hug reminded me and convinced me that it's also good for her to see how much her mommy and daddy love each other.

Tim and I in Hawaii at the beginning of my pregnancy.

I LOVE YOU, TIM!

Isn't it funny what we can see reflected in the faces of our children.

Sammie just cracks up when Mike and I kiss...in fact that is how we got her to smile so big toward the end of her last photo sitting. Like you, nothing inappropriate, just little pecks and she just busts up.

Mandi, on the other hand, is at that age where everything is "gross." Between getting ready for the bath and putting her in the bath I let Sam run around naked briefly. She loves it and Mandi jsut says "ew, gross, get her dressed." and any and I do mean any affection shown between Mike and I get's an automatic "gross!' She's too funny.

Too cute. Alex loves when we hug or kiss in front of her. Most times she wants to join in and asks for a big group hug-- one big group family hug that includes baby brother too. It is pretty cute and does remind us how important affection is in all areas. It was fun to chat with you the other day. Hope you are feeling better!

By the way, 7 Passages: Absolutely Stunning. It was so fair, so loving. They may be doing another weekend of it, and if they do, GO SEE IT. I'll babysit Samara if I have to! :P

How sweet. Chloe enjoys this, too. For a while there, she'd laugh hysterically anytime Mike or I kissed in front of her. Too funny! And a nice incentive for an extra kiss. :)
