My family is okay

.

The bridge that collapsed in Minneapolis last night is a bridge my brother, Derek, my sister, Tracy, and my brother-in-law, Robb, use. It is just a couple of miles from Tracy and Robb's new house and just a matter of blocks from Derek's house.

I am full of gratitude that none of my beloved family were on or near the bridge when it collapsed. I am especially glad because not only were the lives of Derek and Tracy and Robb spared, but also the precious life of my little niece or nephew that my beautiful sister is carrying inside her. Tracy is just entering her second trimester and is due on Valentine's Day next year!

Please pray for the city that my family calls home and for all those who are searching for and caring for the victims... and for all of the families who are grieving right now.

I was gonna email you today to find out if they were all ok. I am glad to hear they are...all 4 of them. How exciting to hear about Tracy expecting!-- My prayers go out for all of those not so fortunate.

Here, here. We had a flurry of calls last night, too. Mark can see the bridge from the poli sci department, friends from college work around there, and Erik's family is having a mini-reunion in the cities starting a few days ago.

Hard to believe a bridge that you've driven on so much was that unstable!

Meanwhile, send my congrats to Tracy!

hi heidi! eric called me last night and told me what happened-- we're so glad that our friend greg (who was travelling home from the cities that afternoon) was safe. how scary.

still planning on saturday afternoon sometime? 2:30ish?

by the way, jane is STILL pregnant! she's due to be induced on sunday evening after the baby shower if baby hasn't decided to come on his/her own before then :)

I was driving into a conference in Aberdeen when I heard the awful news. I am so thankful that your sister and family were not on the bridge. Equally, i am very sad for those who were. Pass on my congrats to Tracy - how fun!

I miss you!
